Do hamsters have any depth perception? Sometimes I let my ham run around my bed and she looks over the edge. She's about to fall but I catch her. My last hamster would always jump off my bed no matter how many times I pushed her away. For such little creatures they sure aren't afraid to fall. my brother and me both have a hammy and my brothers hammy (kara) has really REALLY big eyes. i mean big. they like buldge out. my hammy has big eyes too, but not that big. and in all the hammy pics i've seen, i've yet to see one hammy with as huge of eyes as hers!! its just kinda weird, but anyways...the question...because of her big eyes im always ( Read more... )

I got a hamster recently, a black bear, and she doesn't seem to react to noise..at all. I'm somewhat concerned and think that she may be deaf. She was sleeping out in the open (in her cage), and I was whistling loudly by her cage, and she did not react. I've googled "deaf, hamster" and nothing really came up. My hamster Skippy is about two and a half years old and in GREAT shape. He still runs a lot. My concern is with one of his eyes. One eye gets crusted shut while asleep and will open up after he's been awake. I read online to put saline solution in his eye to wash out any dust or anything that is aggravating him, and it works.
